Please join us in welcoming Chris Thomas as a new employee of Baird & Associates. Chris specializes in project management, marine terminal/port design, vessel operations, coastal structure design, and dredging and reclamation.

Chris’ experience in these subject areas complements Baird’s existing expertise in port and coastal engineering. Chris has joined as a senior member of the Baird team looking to build a presence in the Pacific Northwest and deliver projects for clients across this region and beyond.

With over 18 years of experience dedicated to the marine and coastal engineering and construction industry, Chris has led and delivered many complex marine infrastructure projects in the coastal, ports and energy sectors. Throughout his career he has been involved in managing and working on all project phases, from concept design and feasibility studies, front end engineering, through to detailed design and construction.

Chris has expertise in the design and development of energy related marine terminals, such as LNG and other liquid products, and has been part of the PIANC MarCom 153B working group that provides best practice guidance on the design of these facilities. More recently, Chris has been involved with several clean alternate fuel projects and has continued his involvement with the PIANC 153C work group, which is currently aiming to add best practice guidance for design of these terminals to the existing 153B document.

Additionally, Chris has worked on coastal and port infrastructure projects, leading and contributing to designs for coastal protection structures, breakwaters, reclamations and large capital and maintenance dredging projects throughout the world.

Chris lives near Seattle, WA with his wife and two young children, and loves spending time outdoors and on the water with his family.
