The project involved major improvements to a 600 ft. long industrial slip which transformed the area into an attractive recreational waterfront development. Baird was responsible for the planning, analysis, final design, and construction administration for a $3-million, 100-slip marina. Major elements included breakwaters, dredging, dockage, and an expanded waterfront public park using a confined disposal facility.

Services Provided

The main objective of the project was to provide a sheltered area to accommodate recreational and larger boat slips, and emergency tie-up dockage. A physical model study was used to investigate and improve a wide range of alternative schemes for the marina and marina entrance, leading to the identification of a recommended concept. This concept was presented to and adopted by the City.

Additional investigations were completed, including cost estimates and cash flow projections, preliminary planning of landside improvements and downtown linkages, field investigations (including current velocity measurements and depth, soundings) and quarry assessments.

Baird undertook the final design of the project, which included optimizing the recommended layout, producing bid documents, and assisting the Client during the bid process. Full time on-site representation was also provided to monitor construction and administer the project for the City.
